Dear kids who just want to grow up already,

Why would you want to grow up? Being young is the best time in life. You don’t have to worry about anything. All you have to do is go to school and be good. Who wouldn’t want that life? Being old is boring. I know you want to do things on your own. However, believe me when I say that growing up sucks.

Being young may seem boring. You have to follow everyone else’s rules and someone always has to watch over you. I know you just want your own life, but there are so many luxuries that kids have. I know you still have school, but school as a kid is way more fun than school as an adult. When you are in school as a kid you get to have recess, holiday parties, birthday treats, and much more. Once you get into high school and college, all of those fun things go away. Also, when you are a kid, you don’t have to balance school, jobs, and extracurricular activities. You can just go to school, have maybe an hour of homework, and then have the night to yourself.

Look, being a grownup has its ups and downs. Grownups have their own lives that they control. They can do what they want to do without having someone constantly watching them. They can also go and buy things without asking anyone. These luxuries may seem nice but there are many downs to being grown up. When you are grown up, you are in charge of your own life. If you want something, you have to work for it. Nothing is given to you. Also, there are many things that grownups have to put up with. They have to have a good, sustainable job in order to feed their families. I know it may seem strange, but your parents work in order to give you a happy life. They also have to make sure that their kids are successful and healthy. In order to do this, they have to pay bills like mortgage, medical bills, school fees, and much more. Life gets harder the more you grow up so enjoy it now.

Being young is the best time in your life. You don’t have to worry about money, college, partners, or jobs. When you are a kid, you get to enjoy life without any interruptions. Do not rush this time in your life because it goes by so fast. Enjoy every moment of every day. Do not wish this time away because you will be grown up soon enough.

Sincerely,

Leah DiPaolo
